As I’ve mentioned, it’s once again time to look at the year ahead. Just so you can see how this can be helpful, here’s my 2018 forecast along with how it all played out. (I won’t bore you will all 12 months, but here are the highlights.) As you’ll see, the main focus of 2018 for me was my writing career, and that was the intention I set when I initially conducted the reading.
Jan- 10 of Cups. Emotional/spiritual fulfillment. Happiness.
What happened: In late December of 2016, I began my writing career. (I write romance novels, for those of you who don’t know.) In January, I published my first romantic comedy, and I started to see how much joy my writing brought to others as well as providing myself with the creative outlet my soul demanded.
March/April- Justice/Queen of Air. Justice represents balance and standing up to judgment. The Queen of Air represents someone who is perceptive, organized, and independent
What happened: In March, I wrote a book called Finders Keepers, which is a taboo/erotica story. It was very different than any of the stories I had written before (those all being romantic comedies). It was dark and a little twisted and included triggers for non-consensual situations. I had been reading a lot of stories like this during that time, and that’s why I was inspired to write one of my own. I have taken a lot of judgment and criticism for it from some readers, but I stand by my work. Despite the nay-sayers, Finders Keepers and the resulting books that came after it in the series have found a fan base of their own and elevated me to another level of success in my writing career.
July/August- 6 of Fire/9 of Water. Creative/career victory and satisfaction/gratitude.
What happened: In July (creative/career victory) I wrote the third book in the Syndicate series (the same series that started with Finders Keepers). I released it in August. It was not only the most successful and well-received book in the series, but it was also a book that opened up another level of professional success. Not just financially, but also in terms of networking with readers and other authors. Authors who I admire and whose work I enjoy suddenly knew who I was.
September- 6 of Water. Harmony, cooperation, comfort, security.
What happened: In September, I wrote my most popular and well-received book to date. I took a turn away from the dark erotica I had been writing and wrote a sweet, small-town second-chance romance that centered around a young family. In the story, the hero joins the Army and is thought to be killed in action. However, as it turns out, he’s alive and comes back to his hometown to reunite with the girl he left behind and the son he didn’t know he had. The entire story evokes the feelings of comfort, cooperation, and security that the card represents.
October- King of Air. Authority and truth.
What happened: Not everything in this forecast or what happened this past year has been related to my writing career. In October, I was forced to face up to some mistakes I’d made in the past. I had to admit the truth to myself and now pay the consequences. (Nothing dire, but I had some financial debt that has come back to haunt me. It’s my own fault. Time to pay the piper, as they say.)
