Lessons From Your Soul Circle

We’ve all heard that people come into our lives as lessons or blessings, but it’s my belief that lessons ARE blessings, so really, everyone is a blessing. It’s all in how you look at it. Perspective. On the other side of that coin, blessings can also be lessons, because, yes, lessons can be positive!

Right now, I want to talk about lessons from your soul circle. Consider the people around you. Your family. Your friends. Your tribe, whoever they may be. What have you learned from each of them?

Here are some of mine:

  • Carrie, who’s been my BFF for nearly 20 years: She’s taught me to laugh at the absurd and oftentimes inappropriate. She’s also reminds me (unconsciously and indirectly) every day that I CAN be me, and in all my weirdness, quirks, idiosyncrasies, and wild hairs, and still be accepted and respected and supported and loved. She lives about 3.5 hours from me, but if I need her, she’s here.
  • Terry: She reminds me to look for and accept the joy in the little things. The simple things. She reminds me to be absolutely silly. She also reminds me that there are like-minded people out there who support me and all my projects. People who thrive on raising people up rather than tearing them down.
  • Maribeth: She reminds me that Disney princesses are fucking real because she is one. This girl routinely breaks into song at the drop of a hat. Her favorite color is glitter, and she and her twin sister dress up as Anna and Elsa from Frozen and parade around town at random times for no reason other than to make people smile. She is one of the most generous, forgiving, and loving souls I have ever met.

Your turn. I want to hear about what your tribe teaches you. What are some of the most valuable lessons you’ve learned from them?

Extra credit: What lessons do you think you teach others? How do you enrich the lives of the people around you?
