Why/How Psychic Mediums Charge for Readings

I was inspired by another psychic medium today to write this post. Those of you who have been following me for awhile may have noticed that I’ve recently raised my prices for each of my services. I’d like to give you a little insight into why and how I determine what to charge clients.

First and foremost, I will not engage in debates with folks who criticize me or any other spiritualist for charging for their services. What I will say is this: I charge for my services because THIS is my full-time career, and just like everybody else, I too have bills to pay. If the cost of living were free, my services might be too. Some psychic mediums choose not to charge for their readings, and that’s their prerogative, but it’s safe to say that they must have another source of income if that’s the case. Now, that’s not to say that I never give readings away. In fact, I often run raffles and contests when I’m working events to give folks a chance at winning a free reading. Plus, if you’ve ever booked a party with me, you know that the host or hostess always gets their reading for free.

Now, as for actually raising my prices, that actually came about during an automatic writing session during which I was told in no uncertain terms that I was “low-balling”myself. I was not asking a price that was worthy of the amount of energy I was expending. I mean, that’s what readings are. They’re an exchange of my energy for your monetary contribution. My pricing is not exorbitant. In fact, many psychic mediums use the $1 per minute rule when they charge for their time. In all honesty, that number is a tad low for most of us. I started out using that rule, but once my time started to become more in demand, I felt the need to raise my prices in order to compensate for the energy I was expending and the time my readings consume. A blog I read today states that the average price for a one-hour reading ranges between $120 and $170. (I am currently asking $80 for one hour.) Comparatively, my pricing is quite modest!

So, please, refrain from criticizing legitimate spiritualists from trying to make an honest living. And for more information on how much a reading should cost and what you should spend, please see fellow psychic medium Amanda Meder’s blog post here.
